Chief Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to lead our resort's engineering and facilities team. This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of the physical plant, from pre-opening setup to ongoing maintenance, ensuring operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and environmental sustainability.

Job Description

Pre-opening:

1) Collaborate on final design: Work with the project team to ensure all building systems meet operational needs and efficiency standards.

2) Oversee system installation: Manage the installation and commissioning of all engineering equipment and systems.

3) Develop maintenance programs: Create and implement preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for all resort assets.

4) Recruit and train the team: Hire, train, and supervise the engineering team to operate and maintain the resort's systems.

5) Manage pre-opening budget: Prepare the initial departmental budget for staffing, maintenance, and supplies.

6) Plan landscaping and farm: Collaborate on the design and maintenance of the resort’s landscaping and organic farm.

Normal Operations:

1) Oversee daily operations: Direct and control all engineering staff to ensure day-to-day operations are handled efficiently.

2) Conduct routine inspections: Regularly inspect facilities and equipment to ensure they are in excellent condition.

3) Implement energy conservation: Develop and promote programs to reduce utility costs and consumption.

4) Ensure safety standards: Maintain and enforce safety and emergency procedures for both guests and staff.

5) Manage ongoing maintenance: Schedule and oversee preventative maintenance programs to ensure the long-term sustainability of the resort's assets.

6) Supervise the Organic Farm Manager: Oversee all aspects of the resort's organic farm, ensuring it aligns with the resort's goals.

Qualifications
1) Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.

2) Experience: A minimum of 5–7 years in a senior engineering or facilities management role, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity, preferably in a luxury hospitality environment.

3) Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of resort infrastructure (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety), expertise in sustainable and energy-efficient systems, and strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
