Position Purpose
We are looking for an experienced Head Gardener to lead and manage the gardening team and maintain the resort’s landscape to a consistently high standard. This role is responsible for daily gardening operations, preventive and proactive maintenance, horticultural management, team efficiency, guest experience, and safety across the resort grounds.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead, supervise, and develop the gardening team with clear daily and weekly work plans aligned to season, weather, and guest activity.
• Conduct a daily property walk-through to set priorities, flag risks, and direct the team with measurable tasks.
• Manage rosters, attendance, and leave with HR; recommend hires, confirmations, and performance actions per resort protocols.
• Train the team on correct techniques, safety, and efficiency; build cross-skilled capability so every critical task has more than one operator.
• Own a preventive maintenance calendar covering pruning cycles, soil health, pest and disease monitoring, irrigation checks, and tree safety.
• Identify problems early — pest pressure, drainage issues, storm-vulnerable branches, coconut fall hazards — and act before they affect guests or plant health.
• Service tools, mowers, trimmers, and irrigation equipment on schedule; keep tool stores clean, organized, and accountable.
• Manage Phuket rainy-season risks: waterlogging, fungal disease, weed surge, and fallen fronds in guest areas.
• Select, source, and care for plants appropriate to a tropical luxury resort — ornamentals, palms, hedges, lawns, feature trees — balancing aesthetics, resilience, and cost.
• Maintain a healthy on-site nursery for replacement plants and seasonal displays.
• Apply integrated pest management (IPM) with a preference for low-chemical / organic approaches consistent with a wellness brand.
• Plan labor by zone and task to deliver standard with the minimum effective headcount and overtime; track fertilizer, plant, and chemical consumption against budget.
• Produce a short weekly report: work completed, issues, actions, and spend vs plan.
• Maintain a pristine, consistent visual standard across public areas, villa frontages, pool surrounds, pathways, restaurants, and clinic gardens.
• Schedule noisy equipment outside peak guest hours; coordinate with Engineering, Housekeeping, and F&B to avoid disruption.
• Ensure full compliance with safety standards — PPE, safe machinery use, working at height, and chemical handling.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Thai national (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years in gardening / grounds, with at least 2 years supervising a team in a hotel, resort, large estate, or golf course.
• Demonstrated knowledge of tropical plants, palms, lawns, and tropical pest / disease management.
• Practical competence with mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, blowers, sprayers, and basic irrigation systems.
• Formal training in horticulture, agriculture, or landscape management preferred; equivalent field experience on premium properties considered.
• Strong Thai language skills for team leadership; working English sufficient for management reporting.
• Prior experience in a luxury or wellness-oriented resort (Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Bali, or comparable) is an advantage.
• Experience setting up or running a property nursery, or with automated irrigation systems is an advantage.
• Experience with organic methods and edible gardens (herbs, produce) for F&B or wellness use is an advantage.
• Certifications in pesticide handling, chainsaw operation, or working at heights are an advantage.
• People leader. Leads from the front; coaches rather than commands.
• Preventive mindset. Notices small problems before they become expensive ones.
• Operationally efficient. Thinks in cycles, zones, and output per person — not activity.
• Hands-on and present. Comfortable in the field in all weather; not a desk manager.
• Accountable and honest. Reports issues straight, owns mistakes, solves them without drama.
• Guest-aware. Understands the gardens are part of a premium guest product.
