BCIS Phuket is the only school on the island to offer a choice between two different curricula: the Cambridge programme and the French programme. Responsibilities
Key tasks
Bus supervision

● Assist the bus driver in maintaining discipline on school bus;
● Coordinate seating of students monitor and assist students while bus is in operation;
● Consult with and assist bus driver in documentation of student information, record-keeping and completing route surveys and liaise with Bus Coordinator as necessary.
● Communicate with Learning Assistants, teachers, principals, and parents concerning student background, medical problems and behaviour as appropriate.
● Assist driver in assuring seat belts, harnesses and wheel-chair clamps are secured as required.
● Assist parents and school personnel with safe loading and unloading of students; leading students to designated rooms or areas on arrival at school and taking them to the bus safely at the end of the school day; assuring a responsible adult meets students leaving the bus.
● Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures and maintain up to date first aid qualifications. tending to pupils who are sick or injured, ensuring they receive appropriate medical attention, and reporting any serious accidents.
Snack and lunch supervision
● Prepare and deliver snacks to the assigned classrooms;
● Oversee distribution of snacks;
● Supervise students during snack time;
● Supervise the students moving to designated play areas;
● Ensure the room is clean and ready for learning when snack time is finished;
● Supervise students in the assigned eating area, helping them as needed to cut food, cleaning up spillages etc
● Deal with misbehaviour and report any unresolvable problems to the homeroom teacher or a senior leader;
● Tend to students who are sick or injured, ensuring they receive appropriate medical attention, and reporting any serious accidents

Recess and transition supervision

● Follow all instructions for supervising students safely at recess;
● Ensure all students line up safely at the end of recess and are transferred to the care of a teacher or LA.

General Duties

Be aware of responsibilities under child protection legislation, and report concerns to a senior supervisor or one of the Safeguarding and Child Protection Officers (SGCPOs).

Professional Development

● Participate in the school, department and individual review process (School Self-Evaluation)
● Actively seek opportunities for CPD/ professional learning in order to keep up to date with current best practice in UK and world-wide
● Maintain first aid credentials
● Undertake annual safeguarding training
● Attend relevant meetings, workshops and courses provided in school which support the School Improvement Plan

General

● Participate in the organisation and running of extra curricula activities, and attend and participate in the organisation of school events, productions and sporting events when required
● Take responsibility for Health and Safety matters for the areas within you work and report any matters that are a hazard; thus ensuring that adequate safety precautions are taken with the students
● Follow the Safeguarding and Child Protection policy at all times
● Ensure that all behaviour issues are dealt with in accordance with the BCIS Behaviour Policy
● Supervise areas of the school as outlined in the Supervision Duty Rota
● Be a role model for students and ensure adherence to the Staff Code of Conduct
● Carry out other related duties as required by the Academic Leadership Team (ALT) or School Leadership Team (SLT) as appropriate.
